In the name of Allah The Beneficent, The Merciful and the best of salutations upon our Master Sayyidina Muhammed (SAW). I am indeed honoured and humbled to be given the opportunity to write a foreword for this issue of Islamic Horizons. Ihsan or Tasawwuf is indeed a vast subject to embrace but its understanding is the beauty and essence of our Din. It is for this reason that those who strove on the path of Ihsan (the Awliya) are still remembered by the multitudes of people throughout the world. They gained nearness to Allah by purifying their inner self and serving humanity selflessly. Allah Almighty reveals in the Holy Qur’an, “Oh you who believe, become God conscious and be with those that are the Sadiqin (those that are the truthful ones).” [9:119] Further discussions and dissertations are indeed needed on this broad but important topic of Ihsan, where the goal is to “Worship Allah as though you see Him and if you cannot do this, than verily know, He sees you”. May Almighty Allah grant us the guidance to read, understand and implement the concept of Ihsan, which gives us a greater consciousness of Allah and thereby make positive contributions to society at large. We commend the authors for their contributions to give us a better understanding of Ihsan and we pray Allah (SWT) grant that they are able to continue such noble work in the future. Insha-Allah, Ameen. Maulana Qutbuddin Kagee continues to play a vital role in the affairs of the community around the Habibia Musjid. He is a trustee of the Musjid; he has given many years of sterling service to the Habibia Madrassah. The Habibia nursery and educare centre exists today largely as a result of his efforts. |
